ABOUT THE CENTRE
The Academic Publishing Centre
Founded in 2019, the Academic Publishing Centre (APC), was established in the University of Lagos, as a TETFUND intervention, with the mandate to undertake publishing activities for educational institutions in South-West Nigeria. The intervention is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Centre in the production of quality textbooks, journals, monographs, magazines, and other specialized reading materials; and to transform quality academic manuscripts/papers into books and journals, amongst others.
MISSION
To publish rigorous scholarship and serve as the editorial backbone of the University.
We achieve this by:
- Publishing high-quality academic books and journals.
- Providing professional editorial, publishing, consultancy, and marketing services.
- Supporting authors and researchers throughout the publishing process.
- Building strategic collaborations that expand the reach and visibility of African
scholarship. - Promoting digital and Open Access publishing initiatives.
- Training the next generation of authors, editors, designers, and publishing professionals.
- Adopting innovative technologies and contemporary publishing practices to enhance
scholarly communication.
Established in 2019, the Centre has grown through enhanced capacity, from print-on-demand publishing to high-impact scholarly engagements to produce globally competitive academic publications. We work with authors across all twelve faculties of the University, as well as with visiting and collaborating scholars from institutions worldwide.
Our editorial process pairs senior academic editors with trained production staff, supported by modern typesetting, indexing and print infrastructure on campus. Every title carries the standards associated with the University of Lagos and the trust of the communities of practice we serve.
The Academic Publishing Centre (APC) is unique in design and novel in its capacities. The one-storey building is an imposing glass house with fully-integrated facilities including: Publishing Unit, Editorial Suite, ICT Section, a Library, Exhibition Room, Training / meeting facilities, Photocopy/ reproduction Unit, adequate storage spaces, and ample office spaces for technical and general services.

To be Nigeria’s leading university-based academic publishing centre, recognised for producing high-impact scholarly publications and promoting knowledge that shapes minds and transforms society.
